the Sewing Department was given over entirely to War Work, and an almost
incredible number of socks,pyjamas,surgical shirts,"Serbian"blankets etc

Has the long awaited Amalgamation really taken place?…The hall was very

Education was seen at Hutchesons'as a system for firing the imagination
and the creative spirit. Never was it thought to be a system for inducing
blind adherence to conformity. Pupils were not empty vessels to be filled
with facts, but torches to be set on fire to create what was worthwhile.1991
