Location
The location for this project is the new library in the school. The panels will run along the second from bottom row as seen in these
photographs. There will be 18 in all. The window is north facing and therefore gets no direct sunlight. One of the major factors in choosing this design approach was that there is no loss of natural light within the room where the natural light plays a vital role within the architectural concept. The concept was designed with the view through to the roof and the sky as you enter and move along the length of the library. It is this placing between highlight and shadow, dark and light that brings out the strongest quality from this technique. As can be seen from these photographs there is also the possibility of viewing the garden through the window from the balcony. This will create an entirely different quality in the work by introducing changes and colour.
Only in a location like this does this technique have a value. A location between land and sky, buildings and sky, some way of creating highlights and shadows is essential in allowing the structure of the glass to be fully seen. In this photograph it can be seen that this is such a location.
