This work was commissioned by Hutchesons’ Grammar School in Glasgow as a Memorial to Sir Alexander Stone who was a great benefactor of the School.

It was an unusual project for me as there is no design as such, it is a project using quotations which encapsulate the history of this school which was established in 1648.

I made the work at the Derix Studio and I have here included the notes on the making and a slide show of the process. This was originally intended simply to allow the School to follow the progress of the commission but it may be interesting for visitors.

The work which is 100ft long made up of 18 sections was unveiled by Lady Stone on the 3rd February 2001.
