So let us begin from here.

I have created a grid to fit the shape and size of the window opening.
The grid is 12 x 24 spaces plus a half border running around the outside.
For the proportions of the grid I have drawn the alphabet, numbers, signs and symbols needed for the project and made cardboard templates of them.
